With the tagline “Every life is precious,” Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik opened 16 new dialysis facilities on Thursday, providing free dialysis services at various Sub Divisional Hospitals, CHCs, and DHH, Khordha. The goal of the dialysis clinics is to lessen the financial burden on renal patients.

Under the 5T program, up to 32 dialysis facilities will open at the sub-district level throughout the State.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister stated that over 4 crore people receive free medical care through the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana and BSKY Nabin Card in addition to receiving free care in government hospitals. This has solved the issue of people worrying about their financial situation when they have health problems.

The Chief Minister explained that although kidney disease treatment is highly costly, renal patients would now be able to receive free dialysis services close to their homes thanks to the establishment of these centers.

The SAHAY program, which offers free life-saving dialysis to kidney patients, was launched in 2018 to improve health services for the State’s citizens. The nation’s first state to offer this service was Odisha. This service was launched at all district headquarters hospitals during the first phase. It is now included in the 5T initiative for sub-district hospitals. The CM announced that 32 dialysis facilities will open at the sub-district level.
